Abernethy Contracting partnered with Brand Properties to deliver a complete site development package for the Kaleido NoDa apartment complex in Charlotte’s booming North Davidson neighborhood. Preparation of the 10-acre lot required stabilization of existing unsuitable soil and the import of 50,000 CY of structural fill material. The site also contained large quantities of buried concrete, which Abernethy excavated, crushed, and repurposed for overall cost savings.

Additional services included bypass and replacement of a 30” Sewer main, installation of 78” storm sewer utilities, and retaining wall construction through areas of existing wetlands. The completed site also included a portion of Charlotte’s X-CLT trail system. Concrete curb and gutter installation and asphalt paving of all travel surfaces completed preparation of the site for construction of the garden style split apartment buildings. Abernethy teams worked closely with the client and subcontractors to deliver the site quickly and safely.
