Abernethy Contracting provided turnkey site prep services including earthwork and soil stabilization to help develop the 9-acre material yard for pipe manufacturer, Ipex International. One of the largest manufacturers in the Charlotte area, Ipex International required a company experienced in rail and road access, who was also capable of developing sites with high levels of unsuitable soil. Abernethy fit the bill perfectly.
Our teams used in-house treatment techniques to stabilize 60,000 SY of unsuitable soil (30k with lime, 30k with soil cementation) helping to save overall project schedule and costs. Development of the site also included importing 25,000 CY of structural fill material, and placing 18,000 tons of ABC stone. Abernethy delivered the rail-accessible site in six months, helping the client progress to construction and get to market quickly.
