We’re proud to announce that Chad Abernethy has been named to Charlotte Business Journal’s 40 Under 40 list!
The honor recognizes young professionals making an impact through leadership in their careers and involvement in the Charlotte community.
Since stepping into the role of President and CEO in 2022, Chad has helped reshape Abernethy Contracting from the inside out. The shift has been less about growth metrics and more about who we are as a company, moving from a “bid, build, bill” mentality to one where people come first and the work follows.
Beyond the business, Chad’s invested in Charlotte’s next generation through partnerships with John Crosland School and Youth for Christ, helping to build a stronger workforce and community for the future.
When asked what kind of legacy he wants to leave, Chad’s answer is simple: “It’s not going to be what we built or how much money we made. We can’t have a serious impact on our people and their families without loving our neighbor.”
The last generation helped build Charlotte into what it is today, and we’re proud to have a leader focused on being a difference maker in the next.
